Red Shirt Friday. Please Pass Along

We've probably all see this.. But the Red shirt thing
is new to me..

Read below...

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me),and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.

Heading out I asked?

No. I'm escorting a soldier home.

Going to pick him up?

No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq I'm taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days. I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom. "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.

Red Fridays.

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is ."We need your support and your prayers." Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON.

If they knew what was good for them...

My oldest boy that lives with us is talking like my husband. I don't nessecarily think this is a good thing. Why you ask?

My husband is notoriously a smart ass.

Tonite I asked him to find one of the Cars character cars we have around the house some where. He reaches across me and picks up my mechanical pencil with that character on it!

I looked at him like he's lost it. He just grins and says,
"well I found it didn't i?"

If you know what's good for you; you will leave the room now.

He left laughing!

Honestly, I know they learn things from us..
but I think I need to have a talk with Mechanic Man about his humor.......

Til later!

Cedar and Me

Are not friends.

Every year at this time I have a headache 24 hours a day 7 days a week until the cedar dies out of blooming.

I will be living on pain relievers, decongestants and antihistamines.

And its getting harder and harder to get the right medications that help me. Sudafed is one of the ones that I take on a regular basis or I end up with bronchitis.

There really is not anything funny about being sick...

I wish I could turn my sinuses in for something better....

*sniffles

Happy New Year.

He should have been a fish.....

Logan loves water. If I am bathing he's got to climb in. Well, if ANYONE IN A FIFTY MILE RADIUS IS IN WATER he has to be in it too!

I cannot count the number of times I have had to float Noah's Ark in my bathroom floor just to get to the tub that is now OVERFLOWING with water just to pull the plug.

And Logan -- instead of gasping for water on the bathroom floor is WAILING his displeasure at the water being drained.

Oh, and I don't have to worry too much about him being in soaking wet clothes -- those are usually in the LAKE of water we have all over the rest of the house.

Not that it matters anyway -- doesn't matter what the temperature is. He's happy to be NEKKID and WET!

I will have to build a pool house just for him... heated water for those of us who are not fond of being both wet and COLD!

Happy Holidays everyone... I have to go fish him out of the kitchen sink now.

I don't know why I bother!

I really have no idea what to do about my 2 1/2 yr old son Logan. Honest to God - I do have clean clothes that fit his 2 yr old body. But you wouldn't know it everytime that boy walks out the door in nothing but a diaper! Oh, and it doesn't matter if it is 105 degrees or -100 degrees he prefers being NEKKID!

I dressed him in a cute little sleeper outfit not 15 minutes ago, prior to coming in here and reading my evening dose of blogs. I look up and here he comes all smiles and guess what?! No sleeper!

I asked him, "where are your clothes?!" He grins at me and promptly turns around. Moments later he brings me the sleeper -- basically balled up into itself. "Here mommy." I untangle the legs and arms from the body of the sleeper and call Logan to me. He HELPS me put it back on him.

As he's leaving the room he's pulling the zipper down to his naval!

Do any of you have velcro -- you know the kind that I can glue to his body and maybe keep some type of threads on him so he doesnt catch a death of a cold???

I am avoiding my housework.....

A Cool Pic Blog! Check it out. I was amazed at the pictures of things I saw there!

Today I want you to go outside if the sun is shining and look at it with your eyes closed and take deep cleansing breaths! If you belive in a "Higher Power" think of it as His/Her beautiful light shining into your heart and filling you with contentment!

Yesterday I was just not feeling up to par. So I sat at the computer most of the day and read this blog's archives -- Crystal's blog - Boobs, injuries, and Dr.Pep* I laughed til my sides hurt. My 13 yo son was extremely disappointed that I would not let him read "the jokes". Crystal is honest and brilliant at expressing herself with words -- and simply put it would be over the 13 yo's head and just like her own 13 yo there are just somethings you cannot explain to a kid his age!

My husband, bless his heart, told me I should write more openly similar to what she does. I told him I censor myself often since I was not sure how he would feel about me writing about our little family -- and its own issues. I have been censored a bunch in my life -- my first ex-husband is an a-hole. And God forbid I express any of my needs. And my second husband -- his idea of censoring left a great deal to be desired. So, maybe I might work through those issues and express myself here more often.

Happy Holidays!
